TR Thank you!

Jeff and I have been training for TransRockies since January of this year (7 long months of 2012). We are, right now, living, breathing examples of what the TransRockies race would be if it were human. We wake up each morning thinking about how work and training will fit into the day; everything else falls around those two priorities and, unfortunately, it’s a rare occasion when there’s time for much more than some activity with the dogs.

I speak for both of us when I give my gratitude, and apologies, to all our friends and family who have become victims of our TransRockies obsession, er… training regimen. Thank you ALL for your support, encouragement, and patience! We do still love you, of course, and can’t wait until there’s more time in our schedules to hang out again. We are SO grateful for everyone who has watched Duds and Ryder while we’ve been away for race weekends or out on long training rides; Duds, Ryder, Jeff, and I can’t thank you enough!! You all have made this long road to TransRockies a tolerable reality for everyone in the Smith/ Underhill household. We will be thinking of each of you as we cross the start and finish line while in BC; YOU are a part of this amazing experience and we’ll carry your support with us everywhere we go.

We have also received generous financial donations from several friends and family members. Thank you – each and every one of you- for thinking of us and the huge financial commitment that we have made to make this race happen. To our surprise, Jeff and I received several checks in the mail with touching words of encouragement. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, to everyone who was able to offer us that type of support. Every donation has made a world of difference in helping to cover our expenses (and there were many).

Through this experience- our pre-race journey- Jeff and I have concluded that we have THE BEST friends and family that anyone could ever ask for! Truly, you all are amazing supporters and we are blessed to have you all in our lives.

A quick run up the Application Trail after a week of biking along the Blue Ridge Parkway in VA.

  1. Love your new blog Meghan and Jeff! Excited to read about your adventure. I was bummed to find out that you didn’t actually ride a race on a tandem bike. That would have been hilarious!! We miss you two and wish you the best of luck on your amazing adventure in Colorado!!!!

Thanks Sandra! If we end up in Colorado we’re in trouble- a long way off the course- but it’s always an adventure. We’re up for anything! 😉 Thanks for the encouragement! We’ll see you guys when we get back.
